Homeless children returning to school need help

MIAMI – Children living in homeless shelters in downtown Miami and Homestead are also getting ready to go back to school Monday.

With the community's help, some of the children have gone to become honor roll students despite the difficulties they face.

The Chapman Partnership, a private sector partner of the Miami-Dade County Homeless Trust, runs both centers. And every year they ask the community to invest on the kids' future.

With the help of Amazon Smile, they are accepting school uniforms, sneakers, supplies and backpacks. They are also accepting donations for after school care and internet essentials on their website.

The donations can also be dropped off at the centers: 1550 North Miami Ave., in downtown Miami and 28205 SW 124 Court, in Homestead. For more information, call Grace Ugalde-Wolpert at 305-329-3081.
