Victim in rehab after alleged beating by Cameo bouncer

Nightclub owners settle with victim for $5 million

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. ā€“ The owners of South Beach nightclub Cameo are paying a tourist $5 million in a settlement after the man was severely injured by a bouncer last New Year's Day.

Younness Adlan, 22, was visiting South Florida from Rhode Island when he was thrown out of the club.

Adlan's attorneys released video Wednesday that shows Adlan in rehab.

Surveillance video from the outside of the nightclub shows Adlan at the doorway of the club. Police said he was yanked out of the club by the bouncer, Cody Quaife, before the bouncer punched him in the face.

According to detectives, the punch caused Adlan to fall back and hit his head on the sidewalk.

Adlan's attorneys said the bouncer did not help him, and it was minutes before anyone else called for help.

Adlan suffered multiple fractures to his skull and was in a coma for three months. He can move his arms and legs, but still can't walk. He also cannot bathe or go to the bathroom by himself.

His father said he hopes this never happens again.

"I have to do anything I can in hopes that nobody -- young or not young -- has to be in this situation," Najem Adlan said.

Quaife was charged with felony battery. He's out on bond awaiting trial, which is expected to begin in September.
