ROANOKE, Va. – Investigators now know that the WDBJ-TV killings in Roanoke, Va., were carefully planned.
After killing Alison Parker and Adam Ward and wounding Vicki Gardner about 6:40 a.m., Vester Lee Flanagan II fled. He sent a text message to a friend saying that he had done "something stupid," police said.

ABC News reported he tried to pitch a story and sent at least 20 pages explaining his evil act hours after the murders.
Flanagan said he had worked as a teen model and escort before becoming a reporter. He said he was "somewhat racist against whites, blacks and Latinos." He said he "hated" people.

He had a plan to runaway in a rental instead of his 2009 Ford Mustang. When a highway patrol spotted him in the rental on Interstate 66 in Fauquier County, he refused to pull over and shot himself.
He was pronounced dead at 1:26 p.m. at Inova Fairfax Hospital. Virginia State Police searched the car just before 5 p.m.,Wednesday. They also searched his apartment and a dumpster near the building.
Police reported the list of the findings in the car Thursday morning to Fauquier County Circuit Court.
