Woman rescued after fire breaks out in Hialeah townhouse

Damage contained to 1 home, but smoke reported in adjacent homes

HIALEAH, Fla. – A woman was rescued from a tree after escaping a fire inside a Hialeah townhouse, firefighters said.

Hialeah firefighters were called to the one-story home in the 4100 block of West 18th Court on Tuesday evening. They were able to contain the flames to the home, though some smoke was reported in adjacent homes.

Efforts to ventilate the homes were under way Tuesday night, and Florida Power & Light turned off electricity to the home where the fire began.

No injuries were reported, Hialeah fire Capt. Cesar Espinosa said.

Firefighters and the state fire marshal continue to investigate the cause of the fire.
