Suspect accused of barricading himself inside home when police arrived

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – A man was arrested Monday morning after barricading himself inside a Pembroke Pines home following a domestic altercation, police said.

Sky 10 was above the scene shortly after 7 a.m. as police gathered outside the Heron Pond apartments at 9340 SW Third Court.

"When I woke up this morning to go to work, everything was blocked off," William Ortiz, who lives at the complex, said.

Pembroke Pines police spokeswoman Amanda Conwell said a man and a woman were inside the home.

Ortiz said two young children were also taken out of the home by police as the man was taken into custody.

Details regarding the domestic disturbance were not immediately released.
