Man accused of grabbing young girl inside Marathon restaurant

David Garcia, 38, wanted on charges of stalking, battery

MARATHON, Fla. – The Monroe County Sheriff's Office is searching for a man accused of grabbing a young girl inside a Marathon restaurant.

Deputies said the 12-year-old victim and her mother were dining at the Sunset Grill about 9:30 p.m. Aug. 5 when the girl got up to go to the restroom.

Deputies said David Garcia, 38, grabbed the girl as she was walking across the restaurant and wrapped his arms around her.

Surveillance video showed the girl entering the restroom. As she headed back to the table, Garcia is seen grabbing her for a second time.

Deputies said the girl told her mother what happened, and the woman told her daughter to walk by the man again so she could see what happened.

Deputies said Garcia attempted to grab the girl again and left the restaurant after the child's mother confronted him.

A manager who was working at the restaurant that night told the mother that Garcia was a former employee.

Garcia is wanted on charges of stalking and battery.
