PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – Archbishop Thomas Wenski greeted the community while riding a motorcycle Saturday at the Archdiocesan Family Picnic at C.B. Smith Park in Pembroke Pines.
The purpose of the picnic was to "share the Holy Father's message with everyone, especially those who did not have an opportunity to travel to see Pope Francis," event officials said.
The event, which took place at 10 a.m. Saturday, featured Wenski, who arrived at the park on his motorcycle to greet all those present.
Wenski was scheduled to celebrate Mass at 11:15 a.m. Saturday and share with the community some of the key messages given by Pope Francis during his apostolic visit to the U.S. Event officials said the afternoon continued with the picnic at 12:30 p.m.
