Contributions sought for Bahamians following hurricane

Supplies to be collected through Wednesday

MIAMI – The New Beginnings Missionary Baptist Church in Miami Gardens needs the community's help in assisting Bahamians following last week's devastating hurricane.

Local 10 News spoke to Pastor Eric Readon and the Bahamian Consulate General, who are collecting supplies from the community until Wednesday, when donated planes will take those items to islands that were hit the hardest.

Bahamians need building materials as most people are homeless and in need of food, water, hygiene products and feminine hygiene products.

  • New Beginning Missionary Baptist Church at 2125 NW 155th Street in Miami Gardens.
  • Mount Bethel Human Services Family Resource Center at 1004 NW First Street, Suite No. 3, in Fort Lauderdale. Items may be dropped off Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call 954-768-0920 for more information.

Anyone with would like to make a financial contribution may do so by sending a check or money order made out to the Bahamas Consulate General, Miami with Hurricane Joaquin Disaster Relief Initiative in the memo area. Those contributions may be sent to 25 SE Second Avenue, Ste. 600, Miami 33131.
