PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – A man who has volunteered with the Pembroke Pines Police Department for about five years was arrested Saturday on accusations that he impersonated a police officer.

Ian Darcy, 65, faces charges of impersonating a police officer and improper use of a firearm.

According to an arrest report, Pembroke Pines police officers were called to the intersection of Southwest 182nd Way and Fourth Street after the victim, Alexander Santana, 22, called police to report a suspicious incident.

Police said Darcy confronted Santana about his vehicle being improperly parked. Police said Darcy identified himself as a police officer during the confrontation and pulled out a gun from his waistband.

According to police, Darcy was a volunteer parking enforcement specialist for the Police Department, and was not serving in an official capacity.

Police said Darcy will no longer be allowed to volunteer for the Pembroke Pines Police Department.
