Driver stays at scene after colliding with woman

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – A woman was taken to a hospital after being struck by a car that crashed into a bus bench.

It happened around Friday night near the intersection of Northwest 27th Avenue and Miami Gardens Drive.

"I asked her, I said, 'Are you OK?' She says, 'Yeah, I'm OK.' I said, 'You realize you hit somebody?" said Jackie, a witness.

The witness said the driver of the white Nissan sat in her car in total disbelief.

"She just like opened her eyes and her mouth and she's like, 'No, no,' and I said, 'Yes, you hit somebody,'" Jackie said.

The roads were wet, and the car jumped the sidewalk. It hit the pedestrian and a railing and crashed into a bus bench.

"I saw the lady get hit and I was scared she got ran over and hit and that she wasn't going to make it," Jackie said. "She was just like, 'My arm hurts. My arm hurts. I can't move. I can't move it.'"

The pedestrian was transported while the driver stayed at the scene.

Police started questioning everyone who witnessed it, trying to determine exactly what went wrong and why.
