Fort Lauderdale man fires gun during Islamorada bar fight, deputies say
Another man arrested after leaving bar to get gun, says he wanted to make sure friends got out safely
ISLAMORADA, Fla. – A Fort Lauderdale man was arrested Saturday night after he fired a gun inside an Islamorada bar, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Becky Herrin said Christopher Fernandez, 31, got into a fist fight with another man at Hog Heaven Sports Bar & Grill late Saturday night. While fighting, Fernandez pulled out a gun and fired it once into the air, Herrin said.
Security personnel took the gun from Fernandez and held him until deputies arrived.
The man who was fighting with Fernandez left the bar.
Fernandez was arrested on multiple charges, including improper exhibition of a firearm, discharging a firearm in public, use of a firearm while under the influence of alcohol and disorderly conduct.
Herrin said a second man was also arrested after he left the bar to get a gun from his car after the shot was fired.
Adam Stubley, 31, of Port St. Lucie, was stopped by security and disarmed before he could return to the bar.
Herrin said Stubley told deputies that he had friends inside and wanted to make sure they got out safely. He faces a charge of disorderly conduct.
