Fort Lauderdale man found dead near Pompano Beach park

BSO spokeswoman says injuries to body indicate Charles Roberson 'brutally killed'

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – A man's body was found early Thursday morning in a field across from a Pompano Beach park.

Broward Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Gina Carter said some passersby came across the body lying near shrubs in a field across from Mitchell-Moore Park.

Carter said the victim, identified as Charles Roberson, 45, of Fort Lauderdale, had injuries to his body indicating that he was brutally killed.

A medical examiner will determine the cause of death.

Homicide detectives are investigating.
