Bicyclist records hit-and-run crash in Miami Beach

Ken Bereski struck by Mini Cooper Thursday night

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Miami Beach police are investigating after a bicyclist was struck by what appeared to be a Mini Cooper Thursday night.

The incident was caught on cellphone video obtained by Local 10 News.

Ken Bereski said he was traveling south on Collins Avenue at about 10:45 p.m. when it happened.

"OK, maybe it was an accident," Bereski said. "...But you noticed when you hit me."

Bereski said he always records his bike rides after having several run-ins with drivers in South Florida.

He said his bike is his primary mode of transportation. During this ride, his cellphone caught the vehicle leaving the scene near 21st Street. He said he was scraped up and bruised, adding that he felt very sore.

Bereski believes he wasn't more seriously injured because he anticipated the hit after a nearby taxi cab happened to honk its horn.

"So I heard that horn honk and I immediately thought, 'Crazy driver behind me. Be prepared,'" Bereski said.

Bereski said he has been biking for more than 10 years in South Florida and is hoping someone can help him locate the driver who is responsible for hitting him.
