FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A construction crew cut a gas line Friday morning in a Fort Lauderdale neighborhood, Fire Rescue officials said.

The incident was reported about 10 a.m. in the area of 2200 NE 19th St.

Authorities said a construction crew struck a three-quarter-inch gas line, causing a nearby church and residents in the area to be evacuated as a precaution.

It's unclear when the evacuation will be lifted. People have been asked to avoid the area until the gas line is fixed.
