The truck was likely involved in a smash-&-grab, police said.

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – Three southbound lanes of  University Drive near Pines Boulevard were shut down for more than an hour Wednesday, after a pickup truck crashed into a power pole while being followed by police officers.

Police began blocking off the area shortly before 6 a.m., after finding power lines down at the intersection.

According to investigators, the truck involved in the crash was identified as the suspect vehicle in a smash-and-grab at a store in North Miami.

However, police did not find the burglars at the scene of the crash. Instead, they found a mannequin and items taken from the North Miami clothing store, named the Purple Carpet.

Police in Miami-Dade and Pembroke Pines continued their investigation and search.

Florida Power and Light said the crash scene was cleared by 8:30 a.m.
