Driver killed after losing control of car on Palmetto Expressway, FHP says

1 vehicle involved in crash

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – One person was killed after losing control of their car early Wednesday on the Palmetto Expressway, Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Joe Sanchez said.

Sky 10 was above the highway at 6:45 a.m., showing the car on its side at the Northwest 12th Avenue exit ramp in Miami-Dade County.

Sanchez said the driver was heading west on the Palmetto Expressway when they struck a guardrail and light pole before overturning. The driver was ejected from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

It's unclear whether speed was a factor. The driver's identity has not been released.
