HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Police are investigating a hit-and-run in Hollywood that left a motorcyclist injured.
The incident happened Saturday night on Sheridan Street at North Ocean Drive.
"I heard right when it happened, and I heard the police coming from down the street," resident Robert Ormston said.
A friend of the victim said someone made an illegal turn and struck the motorcyclist.
The friend said they were both riding their motorcycles along Ocean Drive when a white car, possibly a Lincoln that would have fresh damage, made an illegal U-turn, smashing into the bike and sending the rider flying.
"We're just trying to have dinner," the friend said. "We were on our way home."
Traffic investigators spent hours documenting the crash scene as traffic on parts of Ocean Drive and Sheridan Street was shut down.
The motorcyclist is believed to have suffered very serious injuries.
"I'm just trying to get this bike home so I can go see my friend in the hospital," the victim's friend said.
Meanwhile, police are searching for the driver.
"It's just awful people can actually do that," Ormston said. "And hopefully they find the guy that did it."
Anyone who has information about the incident is asked to call Hollywood police.
