Popular South Florida restaurant lies to customers about closure

Yakko-San ordered shut by inspectors, claims they closed due to gas leak

NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Yakko-San may have told loyal customers on Facebook that a gas leak forced it to close last week, but state records show the restaurant was ordered shut due to a roach issue.

Juice and Java Express in the Avenutra Mall was also ordered shut because of a roach issue.

State records show there was a raw sewage issue at Caffe Di Mauro on Miami Beach.

Below is a list of places and some of their violations. All of the places ordered shut were allowed to re-open following ordered clean-ups and re-inspections.

"We’re embarrassed by what the state inspector claims to have found at Yakko-San, however, the issues the inspector identified were immediately addressed and corrected," Brian Andrews, a spokesman for the owners of the restaurant, said. "The safety and enjoyment of our customers is our top priority and additional steps have been put into place to make sure we never have these same issues again."
