MIAMI – A convicted felon was arrested Tuesday in connection with a shooting in Liberty City that injured two people.

Christopher Leggette, 26, faces charges of attempted murder and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

According to an arrest report, Leggette and an unidentified man approached a group of people Jan. 9 that was hanging outside the Lincoln Fields Apartment complex, at 2051 NW 64th St.

Police said both men pointed their guns at the group and fired multiple shots.

One victim, Tremont Smith, was shot in his right arm. Terick Taylor was shot twice in the left thigh, once in the right thigh, once in the left calf and once in his left hip.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue took both victims to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center. No one else in the group was injured.

Police said one person in the group identified Leggette in a photo lineup and said he has known him since childhood.

Leggette has a lengthy criminal history that includes charges burglary, grand theft, criminal mischief and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
