Broward Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Veda Coleman-Wright said Robert Hayes, 27, of Fort Lauderdale, was riding his motorcycle north in the far right through-lane when a truck traveling in front of him slowed down to make a right turn.

Investigators said Hayes aggressively applied his brakes to avoid hitting the truck. The motorcycle skidded more than 65 feet before falling over and sliding another 62 feet before colliding with the truck's tanker.

Hayes was pronounced dead at the scene. Sky 10 was above the crash scene as a body was covered in a yellow tarp.

The driver of the truck wasn't injured.
