MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. ā One person was killed Thursday morning in a shooting in northeast Miami-Dade, Miami-Dade police spokeswoman Robin Pinkard said.
According to Pinkard, four men were sitting in a car on Northeast Third Court and 191st Street when someone began shooting at them.
One of the victims, whose identity has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police did not immediately say whether any one else was injured.
Juvane Hylton, who lives in the area, said he was sleeping when he heard popping sounds.
"I heard like pop, pop, pop, and then I really thought it was like firecrackers," Hylton said.
He said he left his home about 6:30 a.m. to find a car outside with a bullet hole in the front window and a large police presence.
According to Hylton, robberies have recently been reported in the area but the last shooting happened several years ago, when a security guard was shot at an apartment complex across the street.
"I have a car but sometimes I just walk around the area and I just carry mace and stuff like that, just for my protection," he said.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
