Armed robber leaves Coral Gables 7-Eleven empty-handed

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – A man claiming to be armed during an attempted robbery in Coral Gables over the weekend left a 7-Eleven empty-handed, police said.

Coral Gables police spokeswoman Kelly Denham said the man walked into the convenience store at 3860 SW Eighth St. about 4:30 a.m. Sunday and handed a handwritten note to the clerk, demanding money from the register.

Denham said the note also stated that the robber was armed with a pistol.

Detectives said the man left the store without any money.

The robber is described as a Hispanic man, about 5 feet, 9 inches tall, weighing about 175 pounds and clean-shaven. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded jacket, gray sweatpants and sunglasses.
