Pembroke Pines police spokeswoman Amanda Conwell said the man, identified as Jesus Crespo, 34, picked up a few items inside the convenience store and approached the counter.

He pulled out a black pistol from the front pocket of his hoodie and demanded money from the register, Conwell said.

Conwell said Crespo ran off and, with the help of a K-9, was located at his home on Northwest 79th Way off North University Drive.

Police said the store clerk identified Crespo as the person who had just robbed him and said the incident was captured on surveillance cameras.

No injuries were reported.

Crespo was arrested and taken to the Broward Sheriff's Office main jail.
