Man found dead in Tamarac home

Body discovered Tuesday night by victim's father, deputies say

TAMARAC, Fla. – Homicide detectives from the Broward Sheriff's Office are investigating the death of a man whose body was found Tuesday night in his home in Tamarac.

BSO spokeswoman Veda Coleman-Wright said Lekkie Wilson Jr., 32, was found dead by his father at their home in the 7500 block of Northwest 70th Avenue.

While at the scene, a member of the Broward County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed that Wilson was killed, but detectives have not said how he died, Coleman-Wright said.

A neighbor said he heard screaming Tuesday night coming from the direction of Wilson's home.

"I'll say 11 or 12 o'clock, I'm not sure what time it was, but I heard a woman screaming and yelling, and then all of a sudden it stopped. I didn't hear anything else," Carlos Ortiz said.

A woman who said she is friends with Wilson told Local 10 News reporter Derek Shore that Wilson went by the nickname Lucky.

"He had the biggest heart ever. He was like one of those friends who is so annoying, but you couldn't do anything but love him," she said.

Detectives are searching for a stolen white 4-door 2011 Jaguar.

Anyone with information about the killing is asked to call homicide Detective Jim Hayes at 954-321-4210 or Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. A reward of up to $3,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.

"At the end of the day, you can't run too far, because they'll catch up with you eventually, whoever you are," Wilson's friend said.
