2 in custody after attempted bank robberies in Broward County

No money taken, officer says

Two people were arrested Friday after they attempted to rob two banks in Broward County, authorities said.

The FBI, who is taking the lead on the investigation, did not disclose many details immediately, but an officer at the scene told Local 10 News reporter Sanela Sabovic that the suspects were found not far from each other in the area of 111th Avenue and Pembroke Road.

The officer said money was not taken from either Chase bank in Miramar and Pembroke Pines.

The banks have reopened for business.

No injuries were reported.
