MIAMI – A New York couple faces weapons charges after they tried to board a flight to Miami with razor blades hidden in their clothes, police said.

Lizbeth Esteras, 18, and Miguel Munoz, 40, both of Bronx, New York, were arrested Monday at LaGuardia Airport.

Port Authority of New York & New Jersey spokesman Joe Pentangelo said Esteras and Munoz tried to pass through the screening checkpoint at LaGuardia Airport with razors hidden in a hat and a shoe.

Pentangelo said Esteras had a razor blade tucked behind the inside band of a hat, and Munoz had a straight-edge razor concealed in the sole of one of his shoes. Pentangelo said a tube of cologne was also hidden in the shoe.

Esteras and Munoz face charges of criminal possession of a weapon.
