3 people hospitalized after pickup truck crashes over divider wall, FHP says

Crash shuts down southbound lanes of Florida Turnpike in Pompano Beach

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – Three people were hospitalized Wednesday evening after a crash on Florida's Turnpike.

The crash happened after 6 p.m. in the turnpike's southbound lanes at Sample Road in Pompano Beach.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the driver of a pickup truck lost control while traveling in the northbound lanes and crashed over the divider wall, landing in the southbound lanes.

There were three vehicles involved in the initial crash with the truck and three other vehicles colliding after, troopers said.

One person was hospitalized as a trauma alert patient and two other people were also hospitalized, according to the FHP.

The southbound lanes of the turnpike were shut down Wednesday evening.
