Bill Clinton campaigns for wife in Riviera Beach

Former president spends Presidents Day in South Florida

RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. – A former president is paying a visit to South Florida on Presidents Day.

Former President Bill Clinton appeared at a Monday afternoon rally for his wife, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, at the Port of Palm Beach in Riviera Beach.

Hillary Clinton was originally scheduled to appear at the rally, but she's campaigning in Nevada instead. She is facing a challenge from rival Bernie Sanders, who won the New Hampshire primary but lost to Hillary Clinton in Iowa.

Bill Clinton touched on a variety of topics, including Hillary Clinton's record on civil rights issues. It was an attempt to capture the African-American vote in a city where Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard intersects with Barack Obama Highway.

During Clinton's speech, a Donald Trump supporter held a "stands with Trump" sign and interrupted the former president when he was speaking about the Republican presidential frontrunner.

"You took his money," the man said.

"I certainly did," Clinton replied. "I certainly did, and I took his money for my foundation, where I used it better than he's using it now, I guarantee."

Clinton's response generated loud applause from the partisan audience.
