Surveillance video catches Hollywood burglar in act

Man smashes back door to get inside home

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Hollywood police are searching for a man who was captured on surveillance video breaking into a home earlier this month.

The burglary was reported Feb. 1 at a home in the 4900 block of Adams Street.

Surveillance video shows the man entering the back yard and  smashing a French door on the patio to get inside.

The homeowner, who was not home at the time, believes that the burglar left through the front door after activating the home's alarm system.

Detectives did not say whether anything was stolen.

The burglar is described as a black man in his 20s. He was last seen wearing a white baseball cap, a long-sleeved white shirt with a red and purple design around the lower half, red basketball shorts, black socks and sandals.

Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to call Hollywood police at 954-764-4357 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
