MIAMI – The 40-year-old teacher accused of having sex with a 17-year-old student at Miami Palmetto Senior High School went home Saturday.
After spending the night at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, Jason Meyers was getting an ankle bracelet before being released into house arrest. He posted a $75,000 bond Friday.
Meyers is a married father of three, whose wife is pregnant. She is also a teacher at the school. Meyers was teaching English and creative writing to students in the advanced placement program.
The teenage girl, who is a senior at the school in South Miami-Dade's Village of Pinecrest, told police on Thursday that she had sex with Meyers in November and December after school in his classroom.
Court records show Meyers' next day in court was March 18. He faced a felony charge of sexual battery on a minor.
