MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – An elderly man is hospitalized at Kendall Regional Medical Center after he fatally shot his wife and then turned the gun on himself, police said.
According to an arrest report, police were called to the home of Ramon Morffi, 80, Feb. 20 in reference to reports of a man bleeding.

When officers arrived at the apartment on Southwest 137th Avenue and 91st Street they found the apartment door open and Morffi standing at the threshold of the apartment with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the face, detectives said.
According to the report, Morffi's wife was lying in bed, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the head and face.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives said Morffi shot his wife two times earlier in the day with his Taurus .38 special revolver. They said he then shot himself in the mouth in an attempt to commit suicide but was unsuccessful.
Morffi was taken to Kendall Regional Medical Center where he remains in critical condition.
He has since been charged with second-degree murder with a deadly weapon and is under the supervision of Miami-Dade County Corrections while at the hospital.
Police said Morffi and his wife share two children together. A motive for the killing is unclear.
