Skeletal remains found in Oakland Park field

BSO says remains believed to be human

OAKLAND PARK, Fla. – Broward Sheriff's Office detectives are investigating after skeletal remains were found Wednesday morning in an Oakland Park field.

The discovery was made shortly after 7:30 a.m. at a field near 2627 NW 20th Ave.

Wence Corey told Local 10 News that he found the bones.

"The skeleton was scattered, you know, and the more we looked around, the more bones we (saw)," Corey said.

Corey said it looked like the remains had been "there for awhile."

BSO spokeswoman Keyla Concepcion said the remains are believed to be that of a white male.

Homicide detectives are investigating. Meanwhile, the remains have been taken to the Broward County medical examiner's office for identification.

Detectives said they will seek help from a forensic anthropologist to examine the skeleton and help in the investigation.
