An unnamed Florida police officer has been placed on leave after video captured him forcefully throwing a woman to the ground during a parking lot dispute.

In the video, the Cape Coral police officer can be seen approaching a woman from behind while she argues with her boyfriend.

The woman, Brittnie Fails, told WZVN in Fort Myers she was attempting to get her keys from her boyfriend.

A witness nearby captured the argument on video, and the ensuing incident with the police officer.

The officer grabs Fails from behind and throws her to the ground.

"The next thing I know, I'm on the ground opening my eyes," Fails told WZVN.

While Fails was laying on the ground, the unnamed officer could then be heard saying that she was "faking it" and demanded that she get up.

The officer and another man then helped Fails get to her feet and dragged her away.

The officer has been placed on paid leave while the Cape Coral police department conducts an investigation that could last up to 180 days.

Fails was later charged with disorderly intoxication and is filing a complaint against the officer.
