MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A man accused of shooting his estranged wife to death Sunday at her mother's home in southwest Miami-Dade County was arrested Thursday.
According to Miami-Dade police Detective Marjorie Eloi, Katrina Padgett was at her mother's home about 9:30 p.m. in the area of Southwest 268th Street and 128th Avenue when she was confronted by her estranged husband, Joe Louis Padgett, 54.

Eloi said there was an argument and Joe Louis Padgett pulled out a gun and began firing at his wife and her mother.
Eloi said Katrina Padgett was shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Padgett's mother, Sophia Cheeks, was not injured in the shooting.
Police said Joe Louis Padgett fled the scene before officers arrived.
A warrant was issued for Joe Louis Padgett's arrest on Wednesday. He is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami on charges of first-degree murder and first-degree attempted murder.
