HIALEAH, Fla. – Two people were arrested Wednesday for attempting to rob a group of people last November who were walking home from a Sedano's supermarket in Hialeah, police said.
The robbery was reported shortly before 3:30 p.m. Nov. 5 outside one of the victim's homes on West 31st Court.
Newly released surveillance video shows the accused robbers, Lazaro Luzbel Carrio, 20, and Daniel Gonzalez, 20, walking together at a plaza where the supermarket is located shortly before the attempted robbery.
According to an incident report, the victims -- two women and a man -- were walking home from the store when Gonzalez ran up to them in the driveway of the home of one of the women and pointed a gun at them, demanding all their money.
The victims told police that Gonzalez told them: "This is not a game. Give me everything you have."
Police said Carrio waited nearby in a silver Honda Pilot while Gonzalez attempted to snatch a wallet from one of the victims.
The woman wouldn't let go of her purse and told police that she told him, "I'm calling the police." She said Gonzalez jumped into the SUV as the victims screamed for help.
Gonzalez and Carrio were arrested after people who had seen surveillance video of the robbers on the news provided detectives with numerous leads.
They both face charges of attempted armed robbery.
