Families displaced after fire at Miami-Dade apartment building

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Some families were displaced after a fire broke out Friday at an apartment building in Miami-Dade County, authorities said.

The fire was reported about 12:40 p.m. at an apartment building in the area of Southwest 211th Street and 85th Avenue.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue spokeswoman Erika Benitez said firefighters saw smoke coming from a third-floor unit and quickly extinguished the flames.

Benitez said the Red Cross was called out to assist families who were displaced from their homes because of the damage.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
