JetBlue plane makes hard landing in Nassau

Airline says plane had landing gear malfunction before landing

NASSAU – A JetBlue plane made a hard landing Friday at Lynden Pindling International Airport in Nassau.

An employee of the Bahamas Agricultural and Industrial Corporation took photos of the plane that was covered in white foam that firefighters had appeared to use to prevent the plane from becoming engulfed in flames.

JetBlue released a statement shortly after the incident and said that Flight #29 from Washington National Airport to Nassau had reported landing gear issues prior to landing.

JetBlue said the plane landed just after 4:30 p.m. with its nose gear partially extended.

"Response crews met the aircraft on the runway to ensure the safety of those onboard," the statement said. "There are no reports of injuries at this time."

No other details were immediately released.
