BOCA RATON, Fla. – A South Florida man who claimed someone else's dead child as a dependent to commit tax fraud has pleaded guilty.

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida said Tuesday that Johny Wolf Jasmin, 32, of Boca Raton, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to defraud the government and one count of aggravated identity theft.

According to court documents, Jasmin obtained the name, date of birth and Social Security number of a child who had died and used that information to claim the child as a dependent on his 2014 federal income tax return.

Jasmin, who owned and operated a Hollywood tax-service business called Wolf Vision, was one of 61 people charged in November as part of a larger federal investigation.

Prosecutors said a search of the business uncovered computers, thumb drives, prepaid debit cards and numerous documents that contained more than 2,100 names, dates of birth and Social Security numbers belonging to other individuals, including some who were dead.

Jasmin is scheduled to be sentenced June 3.
