Miami-Dade elementary school reopens after locked down; possible person with gun seen

Staff member tells Arcola Lake Elementary School principal about incident

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. ā€“ An elementary school was put on lockdown Thursday after a staff member saw a person that possibly had a gun on campus, Miami-Dade school police said.

The incident happened about 5:30 p.m. Thursday atĀ Arcola Lake Elementary School,

Five students were at the school at the time of the lockdown and were safely evacuated.Ā 

The staff member told the principal of the school, and police were called.

Police continued to search through buildings, along with a K-9. Police said they were reviewing surveillance video as well.

By 10 p.m., the all-clear was given by Miami-Dade school police.

School was scheduled as planned for Friday.
