Bystander shot on Miami Beach

Victim is expected to recover

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – One person was shot Saturday evening in Miami Beach. Police say the shooting started as an argument that escalated to gunfire near Collins Avenue and 11th Street.

Police added that the victim shot was not involved in the dispute, but a bystander who happened to be in the area. That victim was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital and is expected to recover. 

The shooting happened while the Floatopia Miami event was wrapping up, and thousands of people crowded the area. 

Miami Beach police said the shooting was not related to the beach-side event.
