Woman arrested on DUI charges after crashing into Tamarac home

BSO report says Yraida Ramirez blamed broken foot for crash

TAMARAC, Fla. – A woman suspected of drunken driving when she crashed her sport utility vehicle into a Tamarac home late Wednesday night blamed the crash on her broken foot, according to a Broward Sheriff's Office report.

Yraida Ramirez, 41, was arrested Thursday morning on charges of driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license.

BSO deputies said Yraida Ramirez crashed her Chevrolet Equinox through her neighbor's apartment, in the 4400 block of Treehouse Lane, before coming to a stop in the living room.

The residents and a neighbor who spoke to Local 10 News said Ramirez appeared to be intoxicated.

"I heard them give her a sobriety test, and she failed horribly," neighbor Tamesha Heath said. "It was bad."

According to the report, Ramirez was slurring her words and had bloodshot eyes.

"She kept reiterating that it was her fault and she will pay for it," the report said.

The report said Ramirez admitted to having "a pinch" of rum before the crash.

Heath said Ramirez had a cast on her leg.

"And when she ran into the house, she didn't even get out of the car," Heath said.
