Thieves convert stolen coins into $377.77 at Coinstar machine

Surveillance video shows 4 men converting change into cash at Winn-Dixie

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. – Broward Sheriff's Office detectives are trying to identify four men who turned a Deerfield Beach couple's stolen coins into $377.77 at a Coinstar machine at a nearby Winn-Dixie.

On the morning of April 15, someone broke into the home of Lisa and Jeff Davis, stealing a shotgun, a pellet gun, two iPads, their wedding bands and numerous coins, BSO spokeswoman Joy Oglesby said.

The thieves then drove to a Winn-Dixie about a mile away, where they cashed in the stolen coins at the Coinstar machine.

Surveillance video from the grocery store showed four men, believed to be 18 to 20 years old, huddled around the Coinstar machine.

The group got away in a copper four-door hatchback car, Oglesby said.

Anyone who recognizes the men is asked to call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
