MIAMI – Charges have been dropped against a former North Miami Senior High School teacher who was accused of theft, according to a document from an assistant state attorney.

Susie Easterling resigned from her position with the school in April 2015. In December, she was arrested on charges of second-degree grand theft after it was reported that she stole $79,000 from students and vendors.

A closeout memorandum from the state attorney's office included sworn statements from five of the more than 20 sponsors and check writers regarding the theft.

However, this evidence was "not specific enough to match with corresponding recaps and documents required to prove the charges," the document said.

As a result, charges against Easterling were dismissed.
