Thief ransacks car behind restaurant in Deerfield Beach

Hair dryer, gym bag, backpack stolen from vehicle

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. – Newly released surveillance video shows a man peering into a car parked behind a restaurant in Deerfield Beach before ransacking it.

The incident was reported April 18 in the parking lot of an Italian restaurant in the 2000 block of Northeast Second Street.

According to Broward Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Gina Carter, a Rusk Super Freak hair dryer, a gym bag full of cosmetics and a backpack were stolen from the car of a 46-year-old woman.

Carter said the victim realized that her property had been stolen after viewing security footage that showed a young man checking the rear driver's side door of her BMW.

The thief is described as a man in his early 20s with a short fade hairstyle. He was wearing a T-shirt, long shorts and a pinkie ring on his left hand. He also has a distinctive tattoo on his left forearm and hand.

Carter said the man left the parking lot in a white Ford Expedition.
