Reports of possible parachutist who went down in Everglades unfounded, authorities say

BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – Reports of a possible parachutist who went down in the Florida Everglades Tuesday was deemed unfounded by authorities.

Broward Sheriff's Office Department of Fire Rescue spokesman Mike Jachles said authorities called off their search after it was determined that some wandering balloons had been mistaken for a parachute.

Jachles said the sighting was reported in the Everglades near Interstate 75 just west of the Miami Canal.
