Man scratches, claws Pompano Beach gas station clerk, steals register

Robbery reported last week at Chevron on Powerline Road

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – Broward Sheriff's Office deputies are trying to identify a man who attacked a Pompano Beach gas station clerk during a robbery last week.

The robbery was reported Thursday at a Chevron station on Powerline Road.

According to an incident report, the man entered the store and, after walking around for several minutes, went past the kitchen area and began to scratch and claw at the clerk behind the counter.

A customer witnessed the attack and intervened, and the man climbed through the counter window and grabbed the cash register before getting away.

The attack was caught on surveillance video. The man was wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans and had a straw hat tied around his neck resting on his back.

Anyone who recognizes the attacker is asked to call the BSO.
