Family of 5 injured after crash with AAA truck

Family taken to Broward General Hospital with serious injures

SUNRISE, Fla. – A minivan with a family of five inside crashed with a AAA service truck Sunday morning, the Sunrise Fire-Rescue Department said.

The family, including three children under 10 years old, was on its way to church at about 8:30 a.m. when its minivan crashed with the truck in the 10700 block of West Oakland Park Boulevard, authorities said.

All of the family members were taken to Broward General Hospital with serious injuries, Sunrise Fire-Rescue spokesman Chris Piper said.

The condition of the male driver of the AAA service truck is unknown.

Although the cause of the crash remains under investigation, authorities said it appears that one of the drivers may have run a red light.
