COCONUT CREEK, Fla. – Two raccoons were found Monday morning inside the front end of a car in Coconut Creek, authorities said.

Margate/Coconut Creek Fire Rescue officials said the animals were found by the driver outside his home in the area of Serko Boulevard and Lyons Road.

The driver said he thinks he might have struck the raccoons Sunday night, but isn't sure.

Authorities said one of the raccoons was freed and ran away. The second raccoon was slightly injured and was placed into a recycling bin.

Animal Control officers responded to the home and took the raccoon away for treatment.
