Doral mother, young daughter missing

Police say foul play may be involved in disappearance

DORAL, Fla. – Police said they suspect foul play after a Doral woman and her 9-year-old daughter disappeared.

Doral police said Liliana Moreno and her daughter, Daniela Moreno, were reported missing Tuesday by Liliana's sister, who called authorities from Colombia, after she was unable to contact them for two days.

Early Wednesday, police said they suspected foul play because of the time that had lapsed since the mother and daughter were last seen.

Police said Moreno's wallet was found inside her apartment along Northwest 50th Street near Northwest 107th Avenue, and it looked as if she had left in a hurry. Police said Daniela has not been to school since Thursday.

Authorities said detectives have spoken to friends and relatives of Moreno, but none have been able to contact her.

Detectives spent Wednesday searching through a warehouse in Medley off Okeechobee Road that belongs to a cabinet business for signs of Moreno and Daniela.

Police were seen going through a dumpster and a pickup truck that witnesses said belongs to the owner of the business.

Authorities said they did not find any bodies at the warehouse.

"Bottom line is, she's nowhere to be found right now and time is passing, and we grow more concerned with every minute that passes," Capt. Carlos Arango from Doral police said.

Doral police have handed the investigation over to the Miami-Dade Police Department. Miami-Dade police homicide investigators are working with the FBI in the search.

Anyone with information about their whereabouts is asked to call 305-471-2400.
