'Filter Bandit' believed to have robbed Sun Trust Bank branch in Coral Springs

Customer faints during robbery, FBI says

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – A serial bank robber known to authorities as the "Filter Bandit" is believed to have robbed a Sun Trust Bank branch Wednesday in Coral Springs.

The robbery was reported at 3:52 p.m. at a Sun Trust Bank at 9501 Wiles Road.

According to the FBI, the robber pulled out a gun and demanded money from a bank teller.

No shots were fired and an undisclosed amount of money was taken.

FBI agents said a customer fainted during the robbery and was treated at the scene.

The robber was dressed in black and gray from head to toe. Their face was covered with a black cloth.

The Filter Bandit is believed to have been involved in numerous bank robberies in South Florida since August 2014.

FBI agents have dubbed the robber the "Filter Bandit" because he typically wears a dust filter mask to hide his face during the robberies.
